DURHAM TOWN DRAWS 9 IN THE TELEGRAGH
Durham Town (Bobby)has drawn 9 in the JR and N Berkett Telegragh on Saturday in Wellington.
The in form gelding is in prime condition to perform well after his slashing run for 3rd in the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie on New Years Day to In Style and Who'syournaster. He will be ridden by Opie Bosson and carry 56kg. It was a race run with no pace early and Opie took Durham Town to the front and was only just run down. He has responded well to wearing blinkers.
The Telegragh field is a bit stronger than the Railway with the addition of horses like Natuzzi, Tomorrowland and Soubrettes and should be run with a bit more pace which should suit. Durham Town lost his jockey ,Vinny Colgan, in the 2012 Telegragh , won by Guiseppina,in a time of 1.06.94, when nearly forced over the rail coming into the straight. His 2013 trip was more successful finishing 4th to Final Touch . On that day he carried 58kg and the winner ran 1.08.53.
Good luck to the connections Sir Paul Collins, Mrs Anne Gibbs, Mr Jim Gibbs MNZM, John Hart, David Wale and Donna Logan.
