LOGAN RACING HAVE 11 RUNNERS AT RUAKAKA WEDNESDAY 18TH MAY AND VOLKSTOK'N'BARREL SET FOR DOOMBEN CUP SATURDAY 21ST

Race 1 Fiber Fresh1200m sees Silencer start from barrier 5 and ridden by Craig Grylls. The 4 year old Falkirk gelding is owned by Kaskazi Group. Has had 9 starts for 1-4-0 and ran second at Dargaville on 15th April.SUMMARY #5 Silencer made ok ground in slowly run race last time where leader got away with very cheap sectionals and hung on.  Hopefully Craig can have him closer to the leaders here.  Small field with only a few chances.  Nearing peak fitness and certainly looks a top chance to run in first 3.

Taken The Liberty starts from barrier 1 ridden by Sam Spratt. The 4 year old O'Reilly gelding is owned by GW and MW Simon, A Clark and M Scanlon. Has had 12 starts for 2-1-0 and ran 5th at Te Aroha on 20th April running home well. SUMMARY #6 Taken The Liberty will strip fitter for solid first up run and drops 2kg. The forecast rain will be a plus if arrives.  Small field with only a few chances.  He certainly finds a winnable race and can figure in finish with even luck from inside draw.

Race 2 Cowleys Hire Centre 1200m sees Secluded start from barrier 7 ridden by Matt Cameron. The 4 year old Postponed mare is owned by NZ Thorougbred Holdings Ltd. SUMMARY #2 Secluded has found a very winnable race first up here.  Important that Matthew is positive from gate and looks to take up the running.  The field isn’t strong so to be rolling along in front is the best option to win the race.  The main danger is #4 Suggestions who will get back   With even luck in running the stable have placed her very well and she looks a strong top 3 chance in this.

Race 4 Lion Red 1400m sees Rum'n'Coke start from barrier 2 ridden by Ulrika Holmquist. The 5 year old Duelled gelding is owned by Mrs MC Collis, M Darroch, GD Lemon and Optimism Syndicate. Has had 2 starts for 0-1-0 and ran second at Avondale on June 10th.SUMMARY #2 Rum’n’coke is first up here, drawn well and comes in well after the claim.  While he is certainly looking for further the stable have found a nice race for him here to kick this preparation.  Getting back and running on late and with even luck is a chance to get into the money.

Mighty Mak starts from barrier 3 ridden by Brendon Hutton. The 3 year old Makfi gelding is owned by GS Racing. Has had 3 starts for 0-0-0 and ran 5th at Avondale on April 25th. SUMMARY #6 Mighty Mak made late ground first up at Avondale, he will have taken great improvement from that run.  This isn’t a strong race, drawn to get a lovely run with even luck in running he looks a good top 3 chance.

Mongolian Spear starts from barrier 8 ridden by Lee Magorrian. The 3 year old Testa Rossa colt is owned by Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Industry Ltd. Has had 3 starts for 0-0-0. SUMMARY #8 Mongolian Spear has been disappointing this preparation, hopefully back to the 1400m and firmer surface on home track will see him return to form.  On debut at Ruakaka he ran a nice race only beaten 4L with the winner of that maiden going on to be competitive at group level.

Race 5 Waipu Hotel 1400m sees Greencast  start from barrier 8 ridden by Sam Collett. The 3 year old Iffraaj gelding is owned by Lena Ang and has had 1 start for 5th at Avondale on 23rd March. SUMMARY #15 Greencast went forward and weakened late on debut at Avondale.  He will certainly have taken Improvement from that run.  Ideally Samantha can get cover to ensure he is strong on the line.  In what is an even race Greencast with even luck can be hitting the line and a chance to get into the money.

Race 7 Adams Trimmer Insurance 1400m sees Finns Halo start from barrier 8 ridden by Sam Collett. The 4 year old Sakhee's Secret gelding is owned by Mrs RP Halse, Donna Logan and est late Dean Logan. He has had 14 starts for 2-3-0 and ran second at Dargaville on April 15th. SUMMARY #1 Finns Halo stuck on well first up, getting cover midfield is vital.  He will relish the 1400m on his home track and will certainly have taken improvement from that run and looks well placed. With even luck in running Finns Halo is a good top 3 chance.

Lord and Master starts from barrier 11 ridden by Ulrika Holmquist. The 4 year old Mastercraftsman gelding is owned by John and Victoria Carter  and has had 3 starts for 1-0-0 winning his last start at Avondale on July 17th. SUMMARY #5 Lord And Master finds a very competitive race here first up.  Drawn wide so they might go a bit quick for him early.  Although well short of his ideal trips he can certainly be hitting the line and is a chance to get into the money especially if the rain that is forecast comes.

Cambridge starts from barrier 4 ridden by Craig Grylls. The 3 year old Tavistock gelding is owned by NZ Thoroughbred Holdings Ltd and has had 5 starts for 1-1-0. His last start was at Avondale on April 25th when he ran 6th. SUMMARY #7 Cambridge was luckless first up when nothing went right at the start.  A cleaner jump away and using good gate will see him being a big improver here.  He will strip fitter here and down 1.5kg is a plus.  A repeat of his dominant maiden win would see him might hard to beat in this. An even lot, Cambridge looks ideally placed and with even luck looks a fantastic top 3 chance.

Race 8 Ford Kuga 1200m sees I'veracedfifty start from barrier 10 ridden by Sam Collett. The 3 year old Fully Fledged gelding is owned by AJ Sutherland, MP Stiassny, Donna Logan and BJ Gibson. He is on debut. SUMMARY #5 I’veracedfifty has shown enough in trials to suggest he will be competitive here.  The race hasn’t a lot of depth with only a few winning chances.  Going back from wide gate being saved for one last crack at them in straight looks the right option.  With even luck in running I’veracedfifty can be running on and looks a solid chance to get into the money.

Volkstok'n'barrel worked like gold this morning at Eagle Farm was the comment from Vinny Colgan who rode him in his track gallop. Donna is more than pleased with him, he is ready to peak and has been backed in from $15 to $6 in Australia. Let's hope for a good draw tomorrow . He is capable of winning another Group 1 in the Channel 7 Doomben Cup next Saturday.
