LOGAN RACING STABLES HAVE 2 RUNNERS AT EAGLE FARM, BRISBANE ON SATURDAY MAY 27TH AND 1 AT ELLERSLIE

On Wednesday 24th the track is rated Heavy 8 , penetrometer 5.46. The rail is in the true position and the weather is fine all week. We are hoping the track will dry out to between Easy and Soft NZ conditions. The root structure of the track hasn't developed that well so we are hoping there is no rain that would see the track surface fly apart like what happened at their last race meeting. No horse has been allowed to gallop on the Outer Course Proper which makes it difficult to predict how QiJi Phoenix and Here He Comes will cope with the footing. Qiji Phoenix has won his last 2 starts on Soft tracks with Leith Innes on board so we have no reason to think he won't handle the conditions.Here He Comes shouldn't mind the conditions.
Race 3 the Mitavite BRC Sires' Produce Stakes Group 2 over 1400m $250000 sees Qiji Phoenix start from the visitors draw of 23 ridden by Leith Innes. The 2 year old Not a Single Doult colt is owned by Mr F Niu. He has had 3 starts for 3-0-0 , winning at Te Rapa on March 1st on a Good track over 1200m, Ellerslie on April 1st on a Soft track over 1300m and at Ellerslie on 22nd April on a Soft track over 1600m. He has a horror draw and this is a top level field. The stable has a very high opinion of this horse and we expect him to perform very well. His target is theJJ Atkins at Eagle Farm on June 10th.

Race 5 the Mullins Lawyers Grand Prix Stakes 2200m Group 3 $150000 sees Here He Comes start from barrier 4 ridden by Leith Innes. The 3 year old Bullbars gelding is owned by Mrs D Logan, Mr A Goodwin, Mr G Forbes, Mrs I Pearson, Mrs J Hughes and Mr W Lissington. He has had 13 starts for 3-0-3 and ran 6th in his last start at Doomben over 2000m in the Rough Habit . He loomed as if he was a winner and bludged. The team have been mixing his routine with paddock work including figure 8s with jumps from different directions. He seems far more switched on and tuesdays gallop was very good. We expect a big improvement. Hopefully the penny has dropped. His thursday work was very good and he has improved from his last run and we expect him to be right in the finish.

Race 8 DAD'S PIES 1200 Rating 65 Benchmark 1200m $20,000 sees Gold Rose starts from barrier 1 ridden by Matthew Cameron. The 4YO Pentire mare is owned by GNJ& GR& Est late N Lethbridge. She has had 4 starts with 1 win at Whangarei on 9th July 2016. Has had 2 trials in preperation for this first up run. This is a big , open field with many chances. Ground will be testing but 1200m may suit and she is fit. Will run at Ruakaka next.
