Logan Racing / Saturday, 13 January 2018 / Categories: Logan Racing News, Racing News, Logan Winners, Industry News DONNA AND PETER TIE THE KNOT Donna and I planned to marry on Friday January 5th having a small Registry Office Ceremony followed by dinner and a few drinks with friends at Ruakaka Races on Saturday January 6th. We are heading to Singapore to set up a new Stable and thought we would have a more lavish party some time next year due to the short time frame. The week from hell struck. On Tuesday 2nd we were with friends at their Matakana property and Donna had a freak accident sliding on tiles into the side of an infinity pool at head height. The impact was between the base of her nose and her teeth. She has several fractures mainly of her upper jaw and sinuses , but also in the base of her skull. After transferring from North Shore to Auckland and then to Middlemore Hospital she had a lengthy surgery on Friday that involved five Titanium Plates and lots of wire and a tooth extraction. In between all that we decided to get married on Wednesday with a very quiet ceremony followed by a few drinks at the Quay Restaurant in Whangarei. This shows the strength and determination of this very special women. Most would have crumbled. We are determined to get to Singapore and grow a strong successful Stable . Donna is resting at home and looks remarkably well considering what she's been through. There is bruising and swelling but she expects to be back dishing out orders soon. The accident shouldn't interfere with our plans to fly to Singapore after the Karaka Sales. The first six horses fly on January 26th and will be in quarantine for two weeks. The second plane will be February 23rd. She will be taking some potentially very good horses like The Big Easy, Whakaaria Mai and Volkstok'n'barrel to name a few. We apologize to our many clients that Donna has been out of action but are very proud of Chris and the team that have had huge success lately with five winners and three placings at Ruakaka from nine starters on Saturday January 6th. Sorry we missed being there for the race named after us that we very nearly won with In Vino Veritas. We would like to thank the many well wishes that we have received in the last few days.
