LOGAN RACING'S EXCLUSIVE RUNNERS PREVIEW
Logan Racing Weekend Preview
This weekend we see the inform mare VINEVALE make the step up to group company as she tackles the Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa on Saturday.
Sunday’s Kranji card features three Logan Racing runners as Donna pursues her third Singaporean winner since beginning her time in Asia.
Saturday 18 August – Te Rapa
R6 – No. 12 VINEVALE – Matthew Cameron
Saturday will see the extremely consistent 6YO Flying Spur mare have her fourth start for the stable in the Group 2 Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate 1200m ($100,000). VINEVALE came to us with three wins and a further eight minor placings to her name, she has added to that great record by winning all three of her races since joining the stable. Chris and Michelle have been extremely impressed with how dominant she has been at all three of those runs. The Trelawney Stud owned mare has won over 1200m and performed up to 2100m, with her last three runs/wins being at 1400m suggesting a high pressure 1200m race like the Foxbridge Plate should hold no concern for her. A mare in form, she has earned the chance to have a crack at black-type. Breaking from gate twelve of 14 will make Saturday’s assignment a difficult one, however, she has the added benefit of race fitness on her side. Matthew Cameron will be aboard, and she will carry 56.5KG. What VINEVALE has shown Chris since her win last start has impressed him and he feels that with a bit of luck in the running and provided the track doesn’t get too wet, she is a genuine place chance at odds.

Sunday 19 August - Kranji
R1 – No. 3 ASHHAB – CC Wong
The first race on Sunday will have the 4YO son of Dalghar represent the stable. He runs in an Open Maiden 1200m on the Polytrack ($20,000). ASHHAB has had one race in his career so far, that being back in September 2017 over 1200m in Malaysia. He joined the stable when he came to Singapore where he has been seen having one trial since (7 August). Owned by one of Singapore’s leading stables, the Al-Arabiya stable, ASHHAB is a stunning grey gelding. His trial earlier this month was impressive as he showed a lot of natural gate speed to go forward and find a nice kick and win. Donna and Graeme have been very pleased with the work he has put up since winning the trial and they feel he is capable of going a bold race on Sunday. Drawn gate eight of 11 for champion apprentice CC Wong he will have to carry 56.5KG after the claim (1KG).

R3 – No. 6 GOOD CATCH – WS Chan
GOOD CATCH is a talented 4YO son of Falkirk who lines up in the Class 4 Premier 1100m on the Polytrack ($60,000), another runner that is owned by a powerful stable the Titanium Racing Stable. He will be having his second run for the stable off the back of a huge run when last sighted. GOOD CATCH came to us with a good record already established, having only once finishing outside the first four from his seven starts. He has a good record on the Polytrack where he will be guided by stable apprentice WS Chan from barrier five of 10, with the apprentice claim (3KG) he will only have to carry 53KG. At his last raceday appearance (13 July), GOOD CATCH was very sharply away and managed to kick strongly in the straight to hold off all but one runner, going down the slender margin of a nose on that occasion. GOOD CATCH has shown the team that he has improved from his last start run and with the added fitness of a raceday start, he will be very competitive again on Sunday.

R5 – No. 12 HIPPO VENTURA – Alysha Collett
The 8YO son of Iffraaj may be one of the older horses going around in Singapore but he is still not the oldest in the Class 5 1600m on the Polytrack ($20,000). Another new stable recruit, he is owned by a long time stable client Hong Kai Oh. HIPPO VENTURA finally broke through at his last start to clear maiden ranks (1 July) over 1200m. He is a horse that has been well tired in his Singaporean career that began in 2014. He will jump from gate six of 14 for expat Kiwi rider, Alysha Collett. With his low rating, HIPPO VENTURA gets in to this race with the lightweight of 53.5KG. The six-week gap between runs and the swift step up to 1600m isn’t the ideal starting point for HIPPO VENTURA, however, he needs to get back to the races so Donna can assess him and the best option for him going forward. He will likely take a lot of improvement from the run on Sunday and may be one to follow to his next start.
