Race 4 the Dunstan Feeds Championship 2200m Rating 85 Benchmark sees Zafrenzy start from barrier 8. The 5 year old Savabeel mare will be ridden by Alysha Collett and is owned by Mrs C, MC, MK, and TP Dravitzki, Mrs KM Megchelse and L and T Vincent. 23 starts for 2-2-3. Her last start was at Ellerslie on 26th December where she finished 4th with a very strong run home. Sacred Masters run was very impressive but Zafrenzy will appreciate more ground and should be in the finish.Brampton Loco also runs from barrier 19 ridden by Michael Coleman. The 5 year old O'Reilly mare is owned by EP and Mrs MJ Johnston. She has had 4 starts for 1-1-1. Her last start was for second on 28th November over a mile . A huge run out wide and she probably won't mind the rain. A serious first 3 chance.
Race 5 The Hits Great Northern Guineas sees Sultan Of Swing race from barrier 10 ridden by Mark Du Plessis. The 3 year old Bachelor Duke colt is owned by IDL Racing. 2 starts for 1-0-1. His last start was on November 28th at Ellerslie where he ran 3rd after being caught wide. His best wet track form is on 24th October where he won with a strong run out wide.He has to be a serious winning chance.
Race 6 the Mongolian Khan Royal Stakes 2000m sees Valley Girl start from barrier 14 ridden by Kelly Myers. The 3 year old Mastercraftsman filly is owned by D, L and S Hawkins and Llandennock Trust. She has had 3 starts for 1-0-1 and her last start was on Boxing Day where she ran a strong 3rd. The rain will probably not bother her too much and we think she is a winning chance.
Race 8 the Rich Hill Mile sees Hasselhoof start, ridden by Matt Cameron. The 4 year old Tavistock gelding has drawn 6 and is owned by Blair and Richard Alexander, Garry Cossey, Robert and Jennifer Ferguson, Peter and Craig Woods, Baywatch Syndicate - Sarah Beston, Daniel Currin, Kim Walbridge, Rachel Leyland, Jason Wilson, Simon Teagle, and Rufus Chuter , the Hoof Syndicate - Sir Peter Vela, Henrietta Duchess Of Bedford, Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan, Bob Emery, Wealleans Bloodstock, Anne and Jim Gibbs, Gerald Shand, Ashley Goodwin, Berry Schroder, and GS Racing - Garry Hannam and Shayne Heape. Picket fence form with 4 starts for 4 wins. The attached picture is of Hasselhoof galloping on the Ruakaka track on Tuesday morning. Picket fence form is hard to keep , especially stepping up to Group races. 5 wins from 5 starts , his last win was at Ellerslie on December 13th. His only real wet track form was in a trial at Ellerslie on 14th May which he won on a Slow 9 track when he got the field in his sights and went whoosh . Fingers crossed we can make it 6.
To Be Sure will also start in the race from barrier 8 ridden by Mark Du Plessis The 6 year old Patapan gelding is owned by Mrs ML Bradley, M Corbett, AM Goodwin and PL Woods. He has had 22 starts for 5-4-4 . If he gets cover he will be hitting the line strongly.
Race 9 The Sistema Railway Stakes over 1200m will see Durham Town start from barrier 9 ridden by Matt Cameron. The 8 year old Falkirk gelding is owned by PD Collins, Mrs A Gibbs, JA Gibbs MNZM, JB Hart, DM Logan and DH Wale. He has had 32 starts for 8-1-6. Hoping there is not too much rain.
