Volkstok'n'barrel set to start in the $1.5 million Group 1 Kranji Mile Saturday 26th May
Logan Racing Singapore Preview
Logan Racing Stables , Donna Logan and B Trainer Graeme Forbes have three starters on Saturday's massive Kranji Mile raceday. Donna is hoping to keep the good run going with three very good chances, highlighted by the Singapore debut of Stable Star VOLKSTOK'N'BARREL in the SG1 Kranji Mile ($1,500,000 ). She also lines up her Maiden winner in GREEN STAR who gave the Stable our first win on Singapore soil back on April 27th , these two will be accompanied by COMMAND ROYALE who was extremely brave at his first assignment (27 April) in Singapore and is expected to go close again on Saturday.
Saturday 26 May 2018
R3 - No 1 Green Sar - Craig Grylls
The first runner for the day lines up in the STEPITUP 2015 Stakes Novice 1200m ($85000) on the Turf Short Course. The Iffraaj 4YO made his debut in Singapore after arriving from Donna's daughter Samantha's Stable where he had 2 promising starts in New Zealand. He was among the first shipment of Logan Racing horses to arrive in Singapore and as mentioned , gave Donna her very first training success in Singapore at only her third starter. Green Star will jump from barrier 5 of 13, carrying 58 kg, where the Group 1 winning jockey and ex pat New Zealander , Craig Grylls takes the reigns. Green Star is a very promising type of horse that Donna expects to go a bold race, he has progressed very promisingly from his first start win, and he is very capable of repeating the performance. He is a horse that is capable of going through the grades in Singapore.
R4 - No 1 COMMAND ROYALE - Craig Grylls
The 4 YO Court Command gelding is second up in the WAR AFFAIR 2014 Stakes Class 3 1200m ($80000) on the Short Turf Course. Trained by Donna and Chris in New Zealand to win 3 races and have 3 minor placings from 9 starts. He was also part of the first shipment to arrive in the Stable. COMMAND ROYALE went a huge run first up, only to be run down just short of the post to finish 4th. He has had the misfortune of coming up with barrier 15 of 16 , and will carry 57 kg with Craig Grylls engaged to ride. Donna was extremely happy with his bold fresh up run and is very confident the horse has progressed well enough to suggest he is very capable of going close on Saturday, however the barrier is a great concern. With the natural improvement , COMMAND ROYALE has shown he is a definite place chance in this.
R9 - No 2 VOLKSTOK"N"BARREL - Craig Grylls
Undoubtedly the Stable Star , the Tavistock gelding will fly the flag in the Kranji Mile 1600m SG1 on the Turf Long Course. He is the winner of 4 Group 1 races in New Zealand and Australia , highlighted by his Rosehill Guineas success. The winner of 9 races and well over $1 million arrived in the Singapore Stable in early April. He has had 1 trial over 1000m since arriving but was race fit when he left New Zealand. He was ridden by Craig Grylls in his trial on May 15 and finished a very pleasing 3rd. Unfortunately he drew barrier 11 of 13 for the Gp 1 feature and will carry 57 kg with Craig Grylls on board. Obviously he is a top class race horse , who is extremey well and settled and has settled into Singapore superbly. What ever he does on Saturday he will improve on with more time and racing in Singapore.
