LOGAN RACING SINGAPORE HAVE RUNNERS ON FRIDAY 15TH AND SUNDAY 17TH JUNE

Logan Racing Singapore Preview
Logan racing have four runners engaged across the weekend at Kranji. Donna is hoping to get some 2YO success at the weekend with three two-year-old runners over the weekend, highlighted by MAKKEM LAD who is looking to go one better than his 2nd on debut (18 May), as well as the raceday debut of QIJI COMMANDER (Friday night) and, the stable debut of BURKAAN (Sunday night). She will also line up KEY SUCCESS, who is another making his raceday debut for the stable and, the stables first Singaporean starter WHAKAARIA MAI back on the 24th April who is also entered to run, but sits on the ballot at this stage.

Friday 15 June 2018

R2 – No. 2 KEY SUCCESS – Craig Grylls
The first runner for the weekend runs in the Class 4 Non-premier 1200m ($45,000) on the Polytrack. The Fully Fledged 4YO has had three starts to date in Singapore but on Friday he will be making his raceday debut for the stable. With one win and one second coming from those three starts, he is a very promising horse. KEY SUCCESS won a trial over 1000m at Kranji on the 22nd May in the stable colours. He will be partnered by Group 1 winning jockey and expat New Zealander, Craig Grylls who was aboard for both his win and second placing. KEY SUCCESS will jump from barrier eight of 12, carrying 57kg. KEY SUCCESS has already put together a nice record in Singapore and Donna is very happy with what she has seen from him since joining the stable. Based on this and his performance at the trials, Donna sees him as one of the stables top chances for the weekend.

R4 – No. 8 MAKKEM LAD – Alysha Collett
The 2YO Kuroshio gelding is second up in the IRT Juvenile Stakes Open 2YO (3rd leg Singapore Golden Horseshoe series) 1200m ($90,000) on the turf short course. Second on debut (18 May), MAKKEM LAD was 2.5 lengths behind the winner in the 1st leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series, with the winner of the race going on to win again (2nd leg of series) since. With the big effort on debut, he has made natural improvement with more time in Singapore and will be better for the experience. Unfortunately, he has come up with barrier fourteen of 14, where he will carry 57kg under Alysha Collett. Donna is very happy with how he has been working, and she is confident that he can run another big race.

R4 – No. 10 QIJI COMMANDER – Craig Grylls
Finally, on Friday night the stable has QIJI COMMANDER entered in the IRT Juvenile Stakes Open 2YO (3rd leg Singapore Golden Horseshoe series) 1200m ($90,000) on the turf short course. The 2YO son of Helmet is on debut following a very convincing trial win in Singapore on the 5th June for race rider, Craig Grylls. Purchased by large stable supporters, Qiji Bloodstock at the NZB Ready-to-Run sale, he has gone from strength-to-strength since arriving in Singapore. Drawn in barrier one of 14, he will carry 57kg. His promising trial debut impressed Donna, she is confident he is going to be a very nice horse, who will benefit hugely from the raceday experience he will gain on Friday. With what QIJI COMMANDER has shown since the trial win, Donna wouldn’t be surprised to see him right in the finish on Friday.

R2 – No. 11 BURKAAN – CC Wong
The first stable runner on Sunday night is BURKAAN in the Restricted maiden 1000m ($85,000) on the Polytrack. The 2YO Burgundy gelding has had two starts to date in Singapore but Sunday night will see him make his raceday debut for the stable. With two fourth placings to date from his two appearances, BURKAAN is a 2YO who is very capable of beating the older horses in this. Winning a trail against the older horses at his latest appearance on the 5th June. He will be partnered by the second leading apprentice in Singapore at the moment in CC Wong who will claim 1kg. BURKAAN has come up with barrier nine of 14, carrying 48.5kg. BURKAAN has had the two starts so far with his last start effort a brave front running performance which saw him only captured late to finish 4th. Since he has joined the stable his work has been nothing but pleasing, Donna thinks he is capable of keeping his handy record intact, being a strong place chance.

R4 – No. 14 WHAKAARIA MAI – Alysha Collett

WHAKAARIA MAI is entered to run in a Restricted Maiden 1600m ($85,000) on the turf short course. The Showcasing 3YO made his debut in Singapore back on April 24 over 1200m, finishing 7th from a wide draw (11), he had two promising trials in Singapore prior to that. He was among the first shipment of Logan Racing runners to arrive in Singapore and was in fact the stables first ever starter in Singapore. WHAKAARIA MAI is currently the 2nd emergency in the race and should he make the field he will jump from barrier six of 14, carrying 57kg, where the in-form expat New Zealander, Alysha Collett takes the reigns. WHAKAARIA MAI is a very promising type of horse that Donna expects to go a much-improved race stepping up to the 1600m, he is very capable of going a bold race.
