KRANJI PREVIEW AND SPRING RACING UPDATE
Logan Racing Singapore Preview
The stable only has the one runner entered across
both jurisdictions this weekend. Donna has the consistent galloper COMMAND
ROYALE down to run at Kranji on Friday night. Donna and Graeme are extremely
pleased with the way things are shaping up in Singapore and look forward to
getting more and more of the talented team of horses to the races in the near
future.
Chris and Michelle have another quiet weekend ahead
of them as they have no horses down to run in New Zealand this weekend.
However, they were somewhat buzzing earlier in the
week as Spring was well and truly in the air when we welcomed some of the
stable stars back in to work as they build towards the big Spring racing.
The very exciting filly DANZDANZDANCE returned from
a well-earned break. Her last campaign saw her go from a maiden winner, in
early January, to starting favourite in the New Zealand Derby and earning a
shot at the Group 1 Australian Oaks in April. She is an extremely exciting
prospect, a horse that has plenty of maturing to do mentally and physically, it
is almost scary to ponder the heights she can reach once she develops in to the
beautiful mare she is fast becoming. At this early stage, she has no spring
targets locked in, but she does hold a nomination for the Group 1 Livamol
Classic at Hawkes Bay in October. Chris and Michelle will take her along and
let her racing decide where she heads this prep.
Another top filly has also returned to work, HELLO
IT’S ME, a winner of the Group 3 Royal Stakes at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day
she endured an injury enforced lay off where she battled a few niggly issues,
which saw the premature end to her 3YO season. The Darci Brahma filly was
pegged as a Queensland carnival horse until she was forced on to the
side-lines. The stable has always had a lot of time for her as she has shown
plenty of ability to date. She is another with no definite Spring targets as
yet, but she also holds a nomination for the Group 1 Livamol Classic in
October. Just like her stablemate, her spring campaign will follow a path that
will be decided once she gets closer to a return to racing.
RICHIE MCHORSE, is another that went from
strength-to-strength at his last campaign. He joined the stable as a 2-win
horse that had shown plenty of ability, only to end that campaign and head to
the paddock having claimed 3 more wins and 3 second placings from 9 starts,
including his emphatic last-to-first performance in the Listed Hawkes Bay Cup.
He is likely to have a cups campaign this spring and when Chris and Michelle
are happy with what they see from him, they will further cement his Spring
targets.
R8 – No. 13
COMMAND ROYALE – WS Chan
The extremely consistent 4YO Court Command gelding
is looking to have his fourth start since arriving in Singapore in the Class 3
1200m ($80,000) on the Polytrack. Trained by Donna and Chris in New Zealand to
win 3 and have 3 minor placings from 9 starts. He was part of the first
shipment to arrive for the stable, COMMAND ROYALE went a huge run first up,
only to be run down just short of the post (27 April) to finish 4th.
He was a touch disappointing at his second outing on the 26th May,
however, the team has put that down to the track conditions that night as it
was a very wet Kranji surface. At his last outing (22 June) he was back to his
true self where he again only went down late by a small margin to finish 4th.
Having a longer gap between runs suits COMMAND ROYALE and the four weeks since
his last run will be perfect, unfortunately, he is the first emergency for
Friday’s race. Meaning he require at least one scratching in order to make the
field. Should he take his place on Friday night, our stable apprentice WS Chan
is engaged to ride, and he has finally drawn a decent gate in barrier six of
12, he will only carry 53KG with the apprentice claim. The horse has been doing
extremely well since his last race and Donna and Graeme feel they have him
right on song for this race, should he make the field.
