Danzdanzdance and Hello It’s Me are set to make the field for the Gr. 1 Livamol Classic at Hastings on October 6. The 2040-metre feature has a starting limit of 16, and the Ruakaka four-year-olds were on the outer following their most recent appearances on their home track on September 1. Danzdanzdance was a first-up winner in a 1400-metre event that day, with Hello It’s Me close behind in fifth. Trainers Chris Gibbs and Michelle Bradley opted to train the stakes-performed mares up to the Livamol without any further starts, hoping the nominations would fall away enough for them to take their place in the field. A glance at the updated order of entry during trackwork this morning provided some much-needed warmth to the training partners as a cold southerly howled through the Ruakaka stand. “We’re in,” they said. Danzdanzdance and Hello It’s Me now sit in 14th and 16th position respectively. Sixth-ranked Charles Road, who is now in Melbourne, is another likely defection above them. Gibbs and Bradley have been pleased with the mares’ progress since they last raced. Gibbs pointed out this morning that Hello It’s Me also had a five-week gap between runs leading into her biggest win to date, the Gr. 2 Royal Stakes at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day. New Zealand Derby placegetter Danzdanzdance is an $8 chance on the TAB’s fixed-odds market for the Livamol, sharing third favouritism with Wyndspelle. Hello It’s Me is at $26. Savvy Coup heads the market at $2.80, with Scott Base at $6. Gibbs and Bradley are also aiming Vinevale at the Gr. 3 Red Badge Spring Sprint, where she will come up against the likes of Te Akau Shark, Julius and War Affair in a stellar field. The promising Amazing Az and in-form Los Angeles are also possible contenders for supporting races.
