LOGAN RACING'S FRIDAY NIGHT KRANJI PREVIEW

Logan Racing Kranji Runners Preview

Friday 28 September - Kranji

Race 5 – No. 2 GROUND ATTACK – E Aslam

A 4YO son of Wanted, GROUND ATTACK is the first of a trio of Logan Racing runners in the Jockey Club of Turkey Trophy Open Maiden (WFA) 1100m ($20,000) on the Polytrack. GROUND ATTACK was disappointing when last presented to the races, he went out a short-priced favourite and didn’t manage to fire a shot. Prior to that he was very impressive in dashing late to go down by the barest of margins in an open maiden over 1000m (3 August). Since his latest outing, he has been to the trials where he wasn’t asked to do a lot (18 September). GROUND ATTACK is a horse that has been to the races on four occasions where he has managed two impressive seconds. Friday will see a rider change for GROUND ATTACK as Erasmus Aslam hops aboard at 56.5KG, with the riders claim (1KG). The pair will find themselves jumping from the wide gate of 10 in the fourteen-horse field. Should GROUND ATTACK manage to recapture the form he displayed two starts ago where he was super impressive in finishing 2nd, then there is no reason he can’t win this.

Race 5 – No. 5 ASHHAB – Michael Rodd

The second of our runners in the Jockey Club of Turkey Open Maiden ($20,000) is the 4YO son of Dalghar. ASHHAB has only had the one start in Singapore. Prior to that, he had one other appearance at the races in Malaysia. Last start, ASHHAB was presented in an open maiden over 1200m (19 August), where he finished fifth on that occasion. Caught wide in a fast-paced race, ASHHAB was very brave when he challenged late, naturally peaking on his run to go down by just over two lengths. He will strip much fitter in this race and has the added benefit of the services of champion rider, Michael Rodd in the saddle at 57.5KG. They have been given barrier 4 in this fourteen horse field. Given that ASHHAB has drawn so well, he should be able to gain an economical run in transit and will give this a good shake.

Race 5 – No. 11 THE BIG EASY – Alysha Collett

The last of our three runners in this event is the 4YO son of ex-Singapore based champion racehorse, Super Easy. Making his long-awaited debut, THE BIG EASY was among the first lot of horses to travel to Kranji for the stable but has suffered a setback that has seen him on the side-lines until Friday night. A horse that has shown enormous ability to date, THE BIG EASY has had just the one trial in Singapore (11 September). He has trialled impressively and this race is a good starting point for his career. A horse that has the potential to be aimed at a Singapore Derby, the stable has a lot of time for him and feel that he is one that could go on from this race in leaps and bounds. He will have Alysha Collett aboard in this at 57.5KG. They will jump from gate 9 of fourteen. He may find the 1100m of this race a touch sharp as he lacks some ring craft, but going forward from this run he will be one to watch.

Race 6 – No. 12 HIPPO VENTURA – Alysha Collett

The last of our Singaporean runners for the weekend is the 8YO son of Iffraaj. He runs in the Mauritius Turf Club Trophy Class 5 ($20,000) 1600m on the Polytrack. Having had just the two starts for the stable, HIPPO VENTURA has run two credible races for a 3rd(19 August) and a 5th(7 September) respectively. Both of those runs being at the suitable trip of 1600m, which is in his favour again this time. A horse that has won just the one race, he has been stringing together some consistently tough performances recently. Alysha Collett stays aboard on Friday and they have drawn gate 6 of fourteen. HIPPO VENTURA will only carry the 53KG this start and is capable of going close again in this with a bit of luck going his way.
