Uncle Shayne kicks off the day for Logan Racing in the Burton Construction & Maintenance 1560. This 7YO Bachelor Duke - Alarmed gelding who is owned by GS Racing Ltd, Mrs D M Logan & M J Mathias and has drawn barrier 8 with jockey Lee Magorrian to claim 2kgs. Has had 44 starts for 5-7-1.Has been working really well and lets hope he can repeat his maiden winning form at Rotorua on 7th May 2011 when James McDonald rode him to victory over 1400m on a Heavy 11 track. The only other time he has started at Rotorua.
Huckleberry Flyer is currently 1st ballot in the Craig Thom Memorial 1200m Rating 65. Drawn 14 and ridden by Lee Magorian. The 4 year old gelding is owned by KR,MR,PR and RP Humphries. The No Excuse Needed - De Palio gelding has had 7 starts for 1-1-0. This is resuming and will take benefit from the run. Hopefully he makes the field.
Rocknrolla is nominated for the Metalcraft Roofing 1400 Rating 75 Benchmark and the Windsor Park Stud Rotorua Stakes . If we opt for the lesser race Sam Collett will ride. If she tries for Black Type Lee Magorian will ride. In the WFA event the 4 year old mare has drawn 13 and will compete against the likes of Fascination Street and Miss Foxwood. Owned by M Treloar, D Logan, K O'Riley, J and D Mein, and Northland Radio icon Colin Thomson she has had 20 starts for 4-2-4 and has won her last 2 starts on wet tracks. She has strengthened up into a nice 4 year old and is a chance to pull off the perfect hat trick result.
Thornbird Lass and Fiamette line up in the Kids Stay and Eat Free @ Rydges Rotorua 1400m Rating 65 Benchmark. Fiamette needs scratchings to make the field . She has drawn 18 and is owned by M Darroch, R Dickey, D Gordon, Miss S Logan, J McRae, and W Woods. The 4 year old mare has had 10 starts for 1-3-1 and if she starts will go a bold race. Thornbird Lass has drawn 3 , not ideal for a heavy track, and will be ridden by Vinnie Colgan. The 4 year old Thorn Park - Lyric mare has had 18 starts for 2-4-0 and is raced by GS Racing, B Moffat, G Sutherland, and W Woods. Adele's, as she is known in the stable, work over the last 2 weeks has been exceptional and she loves a heavy track. The draw is a concern but she could well be the best of the day.
