Race 7 the Haunui Farm Group 1 WFA Classic 1600m sees Volkstok'n'barrel start from barrier 3 ridden by Vinnie Colgan. The 4 year old Tavistock gelding is owned by GJ Cossey, Mrs A Gibbs, CW Gibbs, JA Gibbs MNZM, AM Goodwin, Mrs DM Logan and Rosemont Stud PTY Ltd. 16 starts for 6-1-3 , his last start was in the 1400m Group 1 at Te Rapa on 13th February where he finished on strongly for 6th. We expect him to be right in the finish here.

Matamata

Race 4 the Reid and Harrison (1980) Ltd Slipper 2 year old colts and geldings SW 1200m sees Mongolian Falcon start from barrier 4 ridden by Michael Coleman. The 2 year old Fastnet Rock colt is owned by Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Industry (NZ) Ltd. 2 starts for 1-0-1. His last start was a strong win at Matamata on 16th January over 1200m. A small strong field. He will be hard to beat.

Race 6 the J Swap Contractors Matamata Breeders Stakes 2 year old fillies SW 1200m sees Astera start from barrier 4 ridden by Alysha  Collett. The 2 year old grey filly is owned by Nevan Botica and ran 2nd on debut at Te Aroha on 17th February over 1000m. We think Astera is a very nice filly and has a serious chance of stepping up in this.
