Race 6 the Haunui Farm Karaka Classic Open Handicap Mile Listed $50000 sees Hasselhoof start, ridden by Matt Cameron. The 5 year old Tavistock gelding has drawn 8 and is owned by Blair and Richard Alexander, Garry Cossey, Robert and Jennifer Ferguson, Peter and Craig Woods, Baywatch Syndicate - Sarah Beston, Daniel Currin, Kim Walbridge, Rachel Leyland, Jason Wilson, Simon Teagle, and Rufus Chuter , the Hoof Syndicate - Sir Peter Vela, Henrietta Duchess Of Bedford, Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan, Bob Emery, Wealleans Bloodstock, Anne and Jim Gibbs, Gerald Shand, Ashley Goodwin, Berry Schroder, and GS Racing - Garry Hannam and Shayne Heape. 10 starts for 6-0-2 and was 11th in his last start at Hawkes Bay in the Makfi Challenge Stakes , a race that was a bit short for him and he was coming home strongly at the finish. The mile will be more suitable and if the track doesn't get too much rain he will be hard to beat.
Also in the race is Candle In The Wind ridden by Mark DuPlessis from barrier 15. The 7 year old Darci Brahma mare is owned by VS Cronin, F Gianone, GS Racing Ltd, IR Gwyn, K Hannam, PD and PD Jeffreys and AB Skelton. 28 starts for 7-3-2 Ran 2nd in the 2100m Whangarei Gold Cup at Ruakaka on 23rd July and will appreciate the cut in the track. A great quinella chance for the stable. GS Racing, Garry Hannam and Shayne Heape are owners in both horses and will hopefully be shouting after the race.
Race 7 the Lone Star Pukekohe 1600m Rating 65 Benchmark $20000 sees Gold Rose start from barrier 13 ridden by Sam Weatherley. The 4 year old Pentire mare is owned by GNJ and GR and estate Late N Lethbridge. Has had 3 starts for 1-0-0 , ran 5th at Ruakaka on 27th August over 1400m and won on the 9th July . Fill love a cut in the track and is a great first 3 chance.
